Here to Make a Difference

“THE PRACTICE OF LAW APPEALED TO ME BOTH MORALLY & INTELLECTUALLY.”

Few things are more important than justice. I’ve always had an interest in the law, but when I realized it also utilized my innate strengths, I knew it was my calling. Specifically, I possess a passion for language and have been told I have a knack for drafting contracts that satisfy my clients’ intended goals and desires. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to use my communication, research, and analytical skills to help others both in and out of the courtroom.

An Advocate for All Walks of Life

I am passionate about helping children with learning disabilities. I take great pride in fighting for their rights and preparing special needs trusts.”

KATHLEEN URBOM
I am committed to education law, especially as it relates to students with disabilities, and I work to promote optimal performance in school districts. After all, good student outcomes allow people to live and work to their fullest potential as adults.
I also, prepare special needs trusts for the parents of children with disabilities. These trusts not only help provide for the children financially — they can designate guardians or conservators, too. Special needs trusts are drafted in such a way that they do not jeopardize the individual’s ability to receive Supplemental Security Income, Medicaid or other benefits.

The process of probate requires honesty and a strong sense of duty.

Probate isn’t like other types of litigation. Rather than striving to prove someone guilty or determine who’s right or wrong, probate seeks to accomplish one noble thing: carry out the wishes of the deceased. Although I work with clients to minimize or eliminate the need for probate, sometimes it is necessary.

One of my favorite parts of being an attorney is the honesty of presenting in court. What I mean by this is that I enjoy doing what’s right and letting the truth speak for iteself. I believe we are blessed to live in a country that allows us to have that opportunity.

Although those going through probate are often facing a difficult time, I attempt to bring calm to the waters by focusing on the facts and protecting the desires of their loved ones.

I would argue that most people going through probate also appreciate these virtues. It can be a very healing process. Although at times it is emotional, at the end, clients often report feeling a sense of closure and satisfaction from fulfilling the wishes of their friend or family member. It isn’t always an easy journey, but when it is necessary it is worth doing right.
